Government
Over 40 years ago, Brazil was one of the low-income countries which had to confront extreme poverty in the remote regions of the country. The demands of building a better economy and helping people cope with the damage to their lives led local governments to join efforts with non-governmental organizations present in the communities.
Once major conflict ends, the focus must be on moving quickly from humanitarian relief to longer-term development. Fortunaly we are at this stage and currently those governments are working in partnership with BEM to improve community development in the regions of Minas Gerais and Bahia.
